Stoke On Trent Contest Report
An early (6am!) start on Sunday 16th January saw both the Cadet and the Senior Guard traveling up to Stoke On Trent for the first DCUK Winterguard Contest of the 2000 season.
The Cadets, performing in the Junior Class, were last on in their class but problems with the sound system that had dogged the event all day also caused problems for our 7 members with them having a false start and then losing one channel of sound!!! Even with these distractions the girls did not seem to be too phased and although placed 4th (out of 5) the top 4 guards on the day were only 3 points apart with only 0.3 of a point separating 3rd from 4th. All to play for here. Also well done to both Hannah and Sian on their first contest performances.
First on in the A Class were our Senior Guard. Putting out a full (but by no means completed) show the 6 girls showed extreme professionalism and confidence and came out way on top - over 6.5 points ahead of the guard in 2nd place. Special mention to Lara on her first show - well done.
All 3 Guards are out next week at Dagenham - good luck to the Rugrats as they start their 2000 campaign.
