Grantham Contest Report
Another early start for the Cadet and Senior Guards as they travelled to Grantham on Sunday 6th February to compete in The Statesmen sponsored Winterguard contest. Both units would be competing against Guards that were performing for the first time this season and so although now seeded there as still a little bit of unknown competition to face.
The Cadets, currently seeded 5th in the Junior Class, had made a number of changes following the comments from judges from the previous two shows and although there was a little uncertainty in the performance they won 4th place on the day, holding their position in the rankings and increasing their score by nearly 6 whole points. With lots of 'cleaning' to do this show is now beginning to come together nicely.
Following their two excellent performances so far this season the Senior Guard are currently seeded 1st in the A Class with the remainder of the class determined to close the gap as the season progresses. A few changes had been incorporated into todays show plus the addition of one new member (welcome to Cheryl) the girls performed another excellent show being award their third consecutive 1st Place. However, a couple of hesitant moments could be the reason that their lead has dropped from around 6 to just over 3 points above The Statesmen.
Two weeks 'break' now until the next contest which is the WGI Regional at Dagenham on Saturday 26th February. All three Guards will, once again, be in competition and so the next few days rehearsals will be crucial.
