Worthing Contest Report
On the best day of the year so far (weather
wise!) all three Guards were on the contest trail again, this time at
the Southern Knights sponsored show in Worthing on Sunday 12th March. We were looking
forward to good size 'home (well almost home) crowd' to cheer
the Guards on and also the normal smooth running show as is our trade
mark.
First Guard of the day to take to the contest
floor were the Rugrats. Once again the confidence is really
beginning to show and the 18 members put on an excellent performance,
which although only awarded 3rd place (out of 3) they are only a couple
of points behind the leaders.
In the Junior Class, the 7 members of the Cadets
has worked hard over the last couple of weeks improving things and
making changes to the ending and so a little disappointed to drop a
place - 4th (out 0f 7). Despite this they are still close on the
tail of at least 2/3 Guards and so all to play for here.
Although at the beginning of the season the Senior
Guard seemed to be way ahead of the pack they have continued to make
changes in light of the fact that they are now being closely chased by
at least 2 other Guards. Another superb performance by the 7 girls
with the back drop now place. Another 1st Place (out of 9) but
with Guards still catching up we may have to pull something special out
of the bag come the season end!!
The Juniors and Seniors travel up to Sheffield on
26th March and then it's a two weeks build up for all three units for
the British Colour Guard Championships in Brentwood on 8th April.
A quick thanks to the parents and supporters who
help run this event and especially our Contest Organiser, Alan
Chatfield.
