Great Start To 2001
Season
Sunday 14th January saw the start of the 2001
Winterguard season with two out of our three units traveling to Stoke
On Trent.
The Cadet Guard, competing in the Junior Class,
were full of confidence with their fun packed 'Summertime'
production. You could really tell that the 10 members were
really enjoying themselves and this obviously projected as both the
audience and judges warmed to the performance. An excellent
start to their 2001 campaign being placed 2nd (out of 8). Special
mention and well done to the new members in the Juniors: Amy F, Amy S
and Victoria plus the two members who moved up from last years Rugrats,
Claudia and Becky.
Returning to the Open Class for the first time
since 1991 the Senior Guard pulled out an excellent performance,
especially after all the trails and tribulations of the past few
months as they changed the style of their performance to reflect the
higher competition level. Going into the competition we really
had no idea how the judges would react to our new style so, even
though there is plenty of work to do, being placed 4th (out of 8), and
only just below last years top 3 units, was beyond all our
hopes. Well done to the new members Stef and Louise and also
Sian and Carla who have moved up from last years Juniors.
Next weekend the Rugrats have their first
contest so all three units will be performing at the Southern Knights
contest in Burgess Hill on Sunday 21st January.
