Bristol Weekend
Report
Full weekend organised as the Junior &
Senior Guards left Brighton on Saturday morning, 23rd February, to
travel to Bristol for the weekend for the Winterguard West Contest
being held on the Sunday.
Saturday consisted of the Guards rehearsing in
the afternoon and then checking into our Hotel followed by socialising,
with the Juniors and most of the parents/supporters embarking on a Ten
Pin Bowling Tournament which seemed to somehow end up with the members
getting considerably better scores than the adults!!!
Sunday morning we traveled to the HQ of the 37th
Kingswood Scouts for a fine breakfast spread and to prepare food for
the rest of the day. Another of our impromptu dance sessions
somehow took over the hall (S Club 7 have a lot to answer for!!) and
huge thanks to 37th Kingswood for their kind hospitality.
Off to the contest and both Guards were up
against a number of other units and hoped to increase the gap they
have been creating between themselves and the group of Guards just
below them.
The Juniors, once again, performed an excellent
show which improves with every contest. Eight other Guards were
also in competition and with over 13 points between them and third
place the 13 members were extremely pleased with 2nd Place just over a
point behind the class winners.
The Seniors seemed really pumped up for this
performance and their 'special' dance section seemed to pay dividends
being place 2nd, nearly 6 points above 3rd and just under 3 points behind
the days winners.
The seeding for March have now been prepared
with the Rugrats now 3rd out of 7 units, Juniors 2nd out of 14 and the
Seniors 3rd out of 9.
All three Guards have one contest left (next
weekend in Dagenham) before the Finals and things are looking good for
another successful season.
