Runners Up @ Stoke
It was Sunday 17th March and the two older Southern Knights Guards made the long trip to the second contest to be held in Stoke On Trent and also the last contest of the 2003 season prior to the British Championships at the end of the month.
The Juniors had spent the two weeks since Chippenham working on the items highlighted by the judges and what a difference!! By far the best performance of the season by far moved them up the A Class rankings and into 2nd Place (out of 8). What ever result they get at the end of the season, 2003 has seen this Guard really "grow up" from being a top Junior to a top A Class in only two months.
Following the excellent result two weeks earlier and with Thurrock back in competition would the hard work since Chippenham (including the new ending) do the job for the Seniors? Well it can't get much closer at the top of Open Class. After a slightly off par performance the Seniors were only 0.6 behind giving them an excellent 2nd Place (out of 11) and with the third place unit only 0.9 behind us it could be anyone's trophy.
The next two weeks will see all three units put the finishing touches to their 2003 shows ready for the British Championships on 29th March at Brentwood.
