2nd April 2003
British Championships
Report
The 2003 WinterGuard United Kingdom
drew to a close on Saturday 29th March at The Brentwood International
Centre, Essex with the British Championships.
The 10 members of the Seniors were
really pumped up and ready for their Prelims performance and what a
performance it was! The work over the previous two weeks had
cleaned the show to a new level and crowd loved it. Joint 2nd
Place with Forgemen and under 2 points behind 1st Place - what could
they do in the evening?
The Rugrats have a had a great time
with their Time show and were brilliant for their final performance of
the season. The 12 members looked like they really enjoyed it
and were very pleased to come in 4th (out of 7) especially looking at
the higher average age of the units placed above them. These
young members are the future and things look bright for SK.
What can be said about the
Juniors. The Guard had been promoted at the end of January into
A Class and had thrived in this environment. There Finals
performance was a joy to watch and the smiles on their 13 faces really
shone though. Coming in 3rd (out of 11), including beating all
the original A Class units was a magnificent achievement and when
looking at the re-cap they were extremely unlucky not to come even
higher!!!
And so back to the Seniors and
their Finals. After the excitement of the morning prelims could
they better that performance? There Spring show had always been
a crowd favourite and the audience was behind them tonight as
well. Well - Finals night nerves must have taken hold for the
first couple of minutes of their performance and although the second
half shown massive improvement they finished the season in 3rd Place
(out of 11) which is still a great achievement.
So that was the 2003 season.
Congratulations to all the members and staff for proving, once again,
that SK are still one of the UK's top winterguard
organisations. Huge thanks to all the parents, friends and
supporters for all the encouragement throughout the season and we all
look forward to entertaining you again in 2004.
We now start our summer programme
of training and local performances as we prepare for the next
winterguard season.
