Burgess Hill
Successes
Following the double win in Open
and A Class at the Stourbridge contest two weeks previously, all
four Southern Knights guards were in action at the SK sponsored event
at the Triangle Leisure Centre in Burgess Hill on Sunday 25th January.
Competing against two other Guards
in the Cadet Class the Ruggies had great fun performing their Little
Fishes routine and although placed 3rd they were by far the youngest
group on the day and for most of them this was their first experience
of real live Winterguard. They were a credit to the Knights
name.
The Junior Guard were up against 5
other units and, like the Rugrats, were a lot younger than the
majority of their opposition. However this didn't deter them
from making their first performance of their Ribbons show a good one
which put them in 4th place on the day and in a seeded position of 5th
out of the total of 11 units in the class
After the success at Stourbridge
the A Class Guard were up against 10 Guards of which 6 did not compete
two weeks earlier and so they were back in unknown territory.
Now with a parking lot flooring painted they performed excellently and
were more than delighted to take another 1st Place which now seeds
them top in their class in the country as we end the first month of
contests
Now up to their full strength of 20
members, the Seniors had to prove that the first place two weeks
previous wasn't a fluke. Well they did that and more! Up
against 3 other units they took 1st Place, increasing their score by 9
points from Stourbridge. Going into February this places the
Seniors in "pole position" but we all know that all this can
change and so they wont be resting on their laurels over the next
couple of weeks.
All in all a successful day for SK
both competitively and also another well run contest (thanks to Alan
Chatfield and all the people that helped staff the event) and all four
Guards will be back in competition on Saturday 14th February in Essex.
