20th January 2005
Preview & Cannock
Show Report
The
2005 contest season got off to it customary start for the Southern
Knights with a Preview Evening of all 4 Guards performances on
Saturday 8th January. The event was attended by over 200 people
and, whilst each show still has lots of work required, each unit gave
a great performance ready to start to WGUK 2005 season.
A
week later, on Sunday 16th January, the A and Open Class Guards both
travelled to Cannock in the Midlands to compete in their first contest
of the year.
The
8 members of A Class Guard seemed uncharacteristically apprehensive
during their ABBA show and this was born out by the judges who placed
them 4th out of 8 but they still have plenty up their sleeve as there
are still lots of bits to add to this fun and energetic production and
so with the dedicated staff and the determined members it is definitely
still all to play for in this Class.
The
Open Class Guard also still have plenty to add to their production
including costumes, most flags plus a few other "surprises"
but the 14 girls still put on an excellent showing and were more than
happy with their 3rd placing out of 9 - only 0.8 behind 2nd and 3
points off the top spot.
As
the season progresses both these Guards shows will grow and build and
so 2005 looks like being another vintage SK season.
All
4 Guards will be action in two weeks time at the first of three
contests being held at Burgess Hill.
