And so the winter contest season came to a close on the 4th April
2009 at the 30th British Winterguard Championships with all Guards
performing their best shows of the year and the A Guard being crowned
British A Class Champions.
Rugrats
After dominating the Cadet Class for the past 4 years, the 17
members of the Rugrats performed their hearts out with their sophisticated
Motown show being one of the highlights of the class but this year
against strong opposition, it was not quite enough to get them in a medal
position. Guard Director, Krissie, and her team already have
exciting plans in place for next season!!
Juniors
The 16 members of the Junior Guard had worked hard on perfecting
their Take That show and with a brand new ending in place it was hoped
that it might just be enough to squeeze them into the top 3 and the
opportunity to perform again in the play offs. Unfortunately
they just missed the 3rd place spot but Guard Director, Kelly, in only
her first season, and her team should be extremely proud of their
achievements and have a strong base to build on for the future.
A Guard
"Watch As It Unfolds" - was the intriguing title given
to the A Guard show for 2009 and the 11 members really put on a great
performance in the morning to get them through into the evening play
offs. In the evening this group of girls had the crowd on their feet
as they romped home in 1st Place and Guard Director, Emma, and her team
should be rightly proud of their success as they were crowned the British
A Guard Champions.
Open Guard
After last years disappointment in missing out on a top 3 placing, Guard
Director, Gavin, and his team put together an epic show - "The Face That Launched
1000 Ships" to prove that they could jump straight back into the
medal positions. After the morning Preliminary contest the 17
members had done enough to move themselves into 3rd Place and
with an even better and stronger evening performance they cemented
this placing with a well deserved bronze medal.

We now move into the slightly less hectic summer
schedule but have plenty to keep ourselves busy with appearances at
local events and a stage show in June plus all the staff now starting
their preliminary planning for the 2010 contest season - and who knows
there could be some surprises!!
