9th March 1998 Second "Double" Win Following the success for both our Colour Guards at the Worthing Contest on Saturday 7th March we travelled to Dagenham to compete in the seasons largest contest and our last one before Finals. With an American Guard also competing in the Open Class there was a large crowd, which help add to an excellent atmosphere on the day. The Cadet Guard, competing in the Junior Class, were up against the only Guard to have beaten them, The Statesmen, and the pressure seemed to show on Director, Sharron Cole's, face. She had nothing to worry about though as the members put on their best performance to date and came in first, just under 3 points ahead. The Main Guard have continued to make changes to their show and were hoping to hold onto the lead they took at Worthing, over the seasons early leader, Solitaire. Once again any concerns were removed following another excellent performance and the announcement of first place in the A Class. The next three weeks will see both Guards working hard as they now prepare for the British Championships in Brentwood on Saturday 28th March. Three weeks is a long time in Winterguard!!!!
